All Schools to close

Following an announcement from the Prime Minister Boris Johnson this evening, all schools are to close on Friday 20th March. The closures will include nurseries, Colleges and private schools. It is not yet known how long these closures will last.

All children will be asked to stay at home until further notice. The only exceptions being children of key workers and those assigned to a social worker.

It has also been announced that exams will not take place in May and June as usual. Education Secretary Gavin Williamson told MPs that officials were working with exam boards “to ensure that children get the qualifications that they need”.

The Prime Minister advised that children should not be left with grandparents or anyone in a high risk category in a bid to protect the most vuneralble.
