Town Council to host Climate Change workshop

Newbury Town Council will be hosting a Climate Change Workshop on Saturday 19 September 2020. The workshop will be held via ZOOM and open at 2:15pm for a 2:30pm start.

Councillor Martin Colston, Leader of the Council, is keen for people to get involved, saying,:

We have now received the results of our independent carbon footprint analysis for 2019/20 and we are delighted to have achieved a 38% reduction in our carbon footprint over the last year. Come along to the workshop to find out how we did it and help us to consider how to go further.

The Workshop will have a number of guest speakers including Dr Sam Cartwright, a Senior Biodiversity & Planning Officer at Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (BBOWT), addressing threats and opportunities for wildlife beyond BBWOT’s nature reserves.

The council will also welcome Robert Williams, the Managing Director of Reading Buses who will talk about Carbon Reduction & Rural Transport Challenges and Lois Ryan, one of the leaders of the local Climate Strikers.
