Mayor’s Treasure Hunt raises funds for charities
Last Sunday, the Mayor of Newbury, Cllr Elizabeth O’Keeffe, hosted a treasure hunt around the Town.
Local people helped to raise money for the Mayor’s Benevolent Fund and her chosen charities Berkshire Women’s Aid and Time to Talk West Berkshire.
The event saw teams of families make their way about the town’s streets, answering questions about Newbury’s history and heritage.
The teams searched out Blue Heritage Plaques, inscriptions, statues and pieces of art which are in and around Newbury.
The Mayor thoroughly enjoyed the event saying:
We were delighted to find a way of raising funds for charity whilstgiving people an opportunity to have fun and find out more about our interesting town. We ensured that the outdoor event for family groups also met all COVID-19 regulations.
