M4 to be closed again this weekend between junctions 13 and 14

This weekend essential repairs are taking place to the bridge near Wickham, which carries the M4 motorway over Welford Road.

In order to carry out the work, there will be a complete closure of the M4 in both directions between junctions 13 (Newbury) and 14 (Hungerford)  from 9pm on Friday 20 August through to 6am on Monday 23 August 2021.

During these closures, signed diversions will be in place via the A338, A4 and A34. Delays are expected, so road users are advised to plan their journeys in advance. Updates will be issued over the weekend via social media @highwaySEAST.

Highways England say on their website: “If work is complete ahead of schedule over the weekend of 20-23 August, we will reopen the motorway early.”
