Local appeal for items to help earthquake victims

A local woman is organising a collection of items to help people in earthquake stricken areas of Turkey and Syria.

Holly Olgar has strong family links to the affected area. She wants to help by passing much-needed things to a transport company, with a proven track-record, who are donating their vehicles and drivers to get material to earthquake areas in Turkey and Syria. This is being done with a Turkish charity called AHBAP and the Turkish Ministry of the Interior Disasters organisation, AFAD.

Donations of items are already pouring in to two Newbury collection points:

Laz Turkish Barbers – 83A, Bartholomew Street (next to Black Boys bridge), Newbury RG14 5EE (open weekdays 9am-6pm. Saturdays 8am-6.30pm, Sundays 10am-4pm).

Turkuaz Restaurant & Bar – 32 Market Place, Newbury RG14 5AG (open 10am-10.30pm everyday).
Holly says clothes other than new-born to age 7 will only be accepted if they are brand new. Holly Olgar can be contacted on [email protected] if you have any questions or need support.
