West Berkshire Mencap Race Day to be Rescheduled

The annual West Berkshire Mencap Race Day has been postponed this year due to the adverse weather.

Phil King Events Manager at West Berkshire Mencap said (via email):

As you can appreciate, we do not take this decision lightly, as Race Day is our primary fundraiser, and we use the money raised from this event to support our services, which are at real risk of closing.

Julian Swift-Hook Chairman of West Berkshire Mencap made the following remark:

“It’s such a shame that the bad weather means we need to cancel our principle annual fundraiser, but safety is paramount and we don’t want to take unnecessary risks. We’re working with Newbury Racecourse to re-arrange the event in a few months.”

West Berkshire Mencap have been offered further dates in the Racecourse calendar and as soon as further information is available
