Three weeks of night time A4 roadworks between Thatcham and Woolhampton
West Berkshire Council’s contractor Volker Highways will be undertaking essential carriageway resurfacing on the A4 Bath Road from the West Berkshire Crematorium roundabout to the western speed limits at ppl Woolhampton.
The works will start on Monday 05 October 2020 and take 3 weeks of night time working Monday to Friday (including early Saturday morning) between the hours of 7:00 pm to 5:00 am using temporary traffic signals with convoy shuttle vehicles with a reduced speed limit through the works to provide a safe working zone for the site staff.
Phase 1 of the works will resurface the west bound lane from Woolhampton towards the crematorium roundabout and take around 6 nights to complete.
Phase 2 of the works will resurface the east bound lane from the crematorium roundabout to Woolhampton speed limits and take around 6 nights to complete.
If very wet weather is forecast or the M4 is closed for an incident, the works will not go ahead on that evening and the programme will continue on beyond 21 October 2020 until complete
Service buses will continue to run however certain bus stops will be closed as the work proceeds.
Information boards have been erected on site and will be updated as and when required if the programme changes.
The UK Government has confirmed that the continuation of local infrastructure repairs is a key priority in light of the COVID 19 outbreak. All site staff involved will follow the guidelines to avoid spreading the virus
