Thatcham singer is a finalist of Open Mic UK

We recently reported that local teenage singer Mia Mirchandani had progressed to the semi finals of Open Mic UK, the national singing competition for singers and solo artists in the UK. We can now update that she is in the Grand final, and needs your votes.

The competition attracts over 10,000 acts every year, with the UK’s best singers, singer/songwriters, rappers and vocalists compete to be crowned the winner.

Mia, from Thatcham,  is 15 years old and has been writing songs to express herself during lockdown.  Her song was entered into the UK Open Mic competition, following a successful first round audition singing a cover of Beyonce’s “Halo”.

She is now one of 40 finalists singing for the prize of £5000, plus publicity packages, and of course being showcased to music industry leaders.

The Grand Final show will be broadcast Thursday 1st July at 7pm on the Open Mic Live Show page (Open Mic UK Live). The results will be announced on Thursday 8th July at 7pm during a special Live Results Show. On the same web page you can vote* for our favourite.

To be the winner of Open Mic UK you must be in the judges’ top scores. These will be added to the audience votes and the acts with the highest combined scores will be crowned the winners of each age category.

Kennet Radio has been playing Mia’s single “That’s Not Me” as part of our music mix at the moment.  You can also find Mia’s single on Spotify.

We wish Mia every success in the Grand Final.
