Mayor’s Christmas card competition winner announced

The winner of the Mayor of Newbury’s Christmas Card Competition has been chosen.

The Mayor of Newbury’s Christmas card is sent to those who they have worked closely with throughout their time in office, as well as charities, organisations, twin towns and civic dignitaries.

This year the Mayor of Newbury, Cllr Billy Drummond, joined forces with the Newbury Weekly News in search of a winning design for the Mayor’s Christmas Card which captures the spirit of Newbury and Christmas.

16 entries were received in total. The chosen design was submitted by Victoria Stolyarova. Victoria is a 27 year old graphic designer who saw the competition advertised on Facebook.

Victoria often uses Newbury as inspiration for her design work and was quick to take the opportunity to take part in the competition. The design was created with watercolour medium and post-edited in Photoshop.

Victoria said, “It was a pleasure to design, thank you very much to the Mayor for choosing it as your Christmas Card this year”.

The winning design will be produced as this year’s mayoral Christmas card and will be sent to more than 300 recipients. Clara Winchester and Patricia Blunt were chosen as the 2nd and 3rd placed winners respectively. Both have received a £25 gift card to spend at Hobbycraft.
