M4 closure again this weekend – it’s best to plan ahead

Highways England have announced:

Drivers are being reminded to plan their journeys if travelling eastbound on the M4 near Wickham, Berkshire this weekend as essential repairs are taking place to the bridge which carries the motorway over Welford Road.

Due to the additional concrete repairs required on the bridge at M4 Wickham, between junctions 14 (Hungerford) and 13 (Newbury) we will be taking advantage of some good weather this weekend by completing the concrete repairs and waterproofing to the bridge.

To carry out this work the M4 eastbound carriageway will be closed between junctions 14 to 13 from 9pm Friday 15 October through to 6am Monday 18 October.

During these closures, signed diversions will be in place via the A338, A4 and A34. Delays are expected, so road users are advised to plan their journeys in advance. Updates will be issued over the weekend via social media @highwaySEAST.
