Highways England is reminding drivers that the M4 westbound carriageway will be closed this weekend between junctions 13 (Chieveley) and 14 (Hungerford). This is to allow for resurfacing work to take place.
Work is having to take place from 9pm on Friday 4 September through to 6am on Monday 7 September, to allow for all layers down to the foundations time to harden.
Further weekend closures have been scheduled for the following dates, but are subject to change:
- 9pm on Friday 11 September through to 6am on Monday 14 September – M4 eastbound between junction 15 and junction 14
- 9pm on Friday 2 October through to 6am on Monday 5 October – M4 eastbound between junction 13 and junction 12
Significant delays are expected during these weekend closures. We advise you to plan your journey and allow extra time or avoid this route if possible.
Confirmed dates/timings for the closures will be displayed in advance on large yellow signs alongside the M4, via the media and Highways England’s South-East Twitter.
A spokesperson for Highways England said, “We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption during our work. If you have any questions, or if you’d like you know more about our work please email us at [email protected] or call us on 0300 123 5000.”
