Kings start season with defeat but will regroup

The Kings tipped off the new season with a defeat  28-51 against Swansea Storm on Saturday in a hard-fought and at times scrappy game

The game began strongly for Storm who opened the scoring with 9 unanswered points before Joe Humphrey scored from the free throw line for Kings, Storm continued to dominate the first quarter and lead at the break 17-7. The 2nd quarter saw almost end to end baskets with Reece Barker adding 9 to the Kings total but it was Storm who stretched their lead to 31-16 at Halftime.

The 3rd quarter saw Kings with a fight back with Peter Rapley and Wayne Burton as the Kings defence performed well to bring the game to 24-37 by the end of the quarter, The final quarter again almost saw end to end action with both teams trying to add points, but it was Storm who found  the net more as Kings where left frustrated by near multiple near-misses. The game-ending 28-51.

Club Captain Wayne Burton stated after the game

“Today was a day where we found out what we need to focus on in the next training sessions. The trick is we try and learn from our mistakes and act on them, nobody is ever perfect but we’ve always proven as a team we can improve and get stronger. Let’s Keep our heads up high and let’s go again!”
