Are you interested in applying your broadcasting skills to help community radio thrive? If you have a few volunteer hours available each week, Kennet Radio might be a great opportunity for you to make a difference.
LOCATION : AT HOME – Approx. 2 – 4 HOURS PER TYPICAL WEEK. Role could be shared.
Role
To contribute to compiling and presenting the station’s news and current affairs output.
Enthusiasm for local news and current affairs, ability to research, outgoing and willing to network and possibly interview people
Join an existing dynamic team, work from home but will be required to join regular virtual team meetings. Working with the social news reporter.
Essential
Ability to research and report on the local news.
Knowledge of the Newbury/Thatcham community, political and business landscape.
Strong writing skills, and ability to convey information in a clear, concise and conversational manner.
Ideally, you will be technically adept and willing to work as part of a team and to learn.
Qualifications: None essential
Desirable
Live reporting skills
Qualifications: GCSE English, a journalism qualification
Training and skills you will receive
Using audio editing software (e.g. Audacity)
Broadcasting law
Using a radio broadcast desk
Presenting
Hands on experience of working with a radio station.
