Grant funding for West Berkshire business – ready to go next week
West Berkshire Council today announced receipt of its funding allocation from the Government for grants to local businesses. Officers will contact eligible businesses by email with a view to releasing the first tranche of funding from the week commencing 6th April.
The funding, announced by Central Government last month, is allocated to retail, hospitality and leisure businesses experiencing problems as a result of the impact of COVID-19.
Grant funding will be between £10,000 and £25,000. The Council expects to be contacting well over 2000 businesses.
Commenting on the funding, Lynne Doherty, Leader of West Berkshire Council, said: “We are pleased to have received this funding so that we can get it to businesses in need.”
“Here in West Berkshire, we have a strong local economy and we have prioritised supporting this where we can. These grants will help some of our small businesses to develop resilience in the face of COVID-19.”
“We are contacting businesses directly to confirm their entitlement and when their payments are due. If you haven’t heard from us yet, please be patient as our team are working to provide this funding to well over 2000 businesses.”
“If your business is struggling or if you have any further questions, please contact us and we will do all we can to help.”
Businesses are eligible if they:
- Are based in England
- Operate in the retail, hospitality and/or leisure sector
- Occupy a building used wholly or mainly by a business operating in these sectors
- Have a rateable value of less that £51,000
