Fabulous football tournament for young people!
The Cold Ash Boys & Girls FC Summer Tournament, held annually in July, was once again a smash success this weekend. Its flagship event and the primary fundraising initiative for the club, it brought together in Monks Lane (yes!, home of Newbury Blues rugby) nearly 2000 players (aged 6 to 16years old), 1200 fixtures, 245 teams, 30 trophies, 26 goals, 23 referees and lots more, all celebrating two fantastic days of grassroots football.
Drawing participants from across the region, it was an exciting weekend of competitive football, with teams of all levels showcasing their skills. It was fantastic to see both boys and girls teams competing on both days.
It’s a long way from when Cold Ash Boy & Girls FC was formed as a club back in 2004. Starting as a small community club, with one team in the South Chiltern League, today the club has over 200 players across 18 teams from U7 to U15, a Wildcats Centre of Excellence for girls aged 5-11 and a very healthy Taster Session group of players aged 4-6.
See you next year!
