VE75: An interview with Tom Darling
VE Day 2020, the 75th anniversary of the formal acceptance by the Allies of World War II of Nazi Germany’s unconditional surrender of its armed forces.
During these strange, virus hit times, the public celebrations were somewhat muted, but no less important or heartfelt.
Kennet Radio’s Jeremy Sharp spoke with long time Newbury resident Tom Darling. A youngster when the war started, and by the war’s end, a teenager who had both witnessed the 1943 bombing of Newbury, and joined the Royal Air Force.
