Two St Barts’ pupils raise £1,475 for Thatcham-based charity

Two students of Saint Bartholomew’s school, Newbury, have been praised for their great charity fund-raising activities.

Elliot Robbins of Year 7 and George Shakespeare of Year 10 have so far raised £1,495 between them.

This money will go to the NHS and Swings and Smiles, a
local charity based in Thatcham, who provide support, friendship and play for children with special needs and their families.

Davis House at St Barts’, of which Elliot and George are members, have chosen Swings and Smiles as their charity. Students have been fund-raising in their spare time during lockdown.
Elliot Robbins has run a marathon on 26 consecutive days, done “Keepy Uppy” and taken part in a “Rag1Tag1” contest.

George Shakespeare has been cycling in all weathers, covering the equivalent of the distance between Newbury and Preston. His friends have helped him raise £1,000 for Swings and Smiles.

Swings and Smiles director, Laura Lewis, said:
I wanted to acknowledge the fundraising efforts of George and Elliot. This amount of money means so much to us. Well done, boys!
