‘TIME TO TALK’ is Newbury Mayor’s chosen Charity
Newbury Town Council resolved at its Full Council Meeting on 13 May to support the Mayor’s chosen Charity, ‘Time to Talk’.
Time to Talk has been in existence for over 30 years, and has made a significant difference to mental health and lives of many young people. They add an average of 35 young people to their waiting list each month.
The Mayor of Newbury, Cllr Elizabeth O’Keeffe said, “The Time to Talk youth counselling charity has served the needs of local young people for over 30 years. Sadly the need for the service grows every year. We now find more and more requests for younger children to access the service.”
Time to Talk is a local charity who provide counselling in central Newbury, as well as in 6 local schools and in 3 rural GP surgeries dealing with issues such as anxiety, stress, anger, depression, loss, self-harm and low self-esteem.
Georgina Punter, Trustee at Time to Talk West Berkshire said, “All of us at Time to Talk are very excited by the appointment of Cllr Elizabeth O’Keeffe as Mayor of Newbury. It is an excellent opportunity to raise our profile further and ultimately to continue to support young people and their families in West Berkshire.”
