Thatcham Family Fun Day

Thatcham’s popular annual summer Family Fun Day is set to take place on Sunday June 27th from 11am at Henwick Worthy Sports Ground.

Attractions that have made Family Fun Day so successful in previous years will be there again, including Classic Car displays, a Dog Show and a Fun Fair.

Kennet Radio

The Kennet Radio events team will be there too, entertaining visitors with music.

Mayor of Thatcham Councillor John Boyd is looking forward to seeing many familiar faces again.  He said,

I’m delighted that the Family Fun Day is returning to Henwick Worthy Playing Fields this year, and we look forward to at last being able to celebrate together.  It’s great to see so many local sports clubs who have had spectator restrictions being part of the day.

Over 50 stalls are booked many from the local community and no doubt they will be looking forward to seeing, for the first in a long time, familiar and new faces.

West Berkshire Rock Choir

There will be a Fun Fair with some amazing rides, and new for this year, a circus skills display and workshop area.  The main arena this year will feature dance displays from local dance schools, and a Dog Show that your ‘best looking’ and ‘best behaved dog’ can enter on the day.  The finale performance will be from West Berkshire Rock Choir – a welcome sight for those who may not have seen any live singing for some time!

The Town Council is encouraging people to be healthy and help the planet at the same time by walking or cycling to the event this year.  There will be a bike lock area on site, and Thames Valley Police will be there with a bike security marking service.

Although Government Guidelines may ease restrictions on outdoor events, the event will adhere to the latest Government Guidelines.  There will be reception points with temperature checks and sanitisation stations, and stall holders and attractions will be spread out to allow for social distancing.
