Thames Valley Kings go top of Division Three South West after a huge win against Harriers 2
Thames Valley Kings go top of British Wheelchair Basketball Division three South-West with a fantastic win against Hampshire Harriers 2 this past Sunday, 69-22.
Kings led from the beginning as the first quarter was a completely one-sided affair as they applied pressure and finishing shots in style taking a 27-1 lead, points coming from Liam and Reece Barker, Joe Humphreys and Chris Nash. Harrier’s sole point coming from the free thrown line.
With a firm lead, Kings used the 2nd period to try some new formations on the court and this led to a more evenly matched quarter which was back and forth between the teams, with Peter Rapley, Humphreys, and the Barker Brothers hitting the points for Kings. The Score at the halftime buzzer, 38-14 to the Kings.
In the third, Kings took back charge of the game and saw the Barker Brothers, Joe Humphreys, and Chris Nash regain the momentum by capitalizing on mistakes made by the Harriers defense and punished them on the counter-attack taking the score to 51-16. In the forth, Harriers found that the ball would not drop for them as the Kings defense forced them to only long-range shots, Kings finding the net with Nick Gorst, Nash and the Barker Brothers.
Kings now lead Division Three South West on points difference over the Gloucester Blazers in 2nd with a game in hand.
