Spurcroft Primary School celebrates double 25-year milestone

Spurcroft Primary School in Thatcham is celebrating a double anniversary as both its headteacher and a long-serving school Governor mark 25 years of dedicated service.

Nina Hopkinson’s interest in school governance began after completing her Master’s in Education (MA Ed) at Southampton University. In 2000, she became a local authority governor at Spurcroft Primary School. That same year, Kate Flowerdew began her journey at Spurcroft, eventually becoming the school’s headteacher.

Last week, staff and governors gathered for a special celebration lunch to honour this significant milestone.

Reflecting on her time as a Governor, Mrs Hopkinson said: “I’ve taken on almost every role a governor can have – from focusing on English to serving as Chair for four years and now overseeing safeguarding. The variety of responsibilities has been incredibly rewarding and keeps you learning”.
