Some local schools close due to the snow

After last night’s heavy snowfall, the Met Office expects more snow later today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday) in West Berkshire and North Hampshire.

Temperatures are hovering around zero and one degree, with an easterly breeze making it feel like between -2 and -4 degrees.

A number of local schools closed today including The Castle School in Shaw.

Local primary schools which did not open, due to the weather conditions, included St Nicolas and St John the Evangelist school in Newbury, The Willows in Greenham and Stockcross primary school.

Newbury’s Park House school opened slightly later than usual at 9.30am.

North Hampshire schools that are closed include Kingsclere, Ecchinswell and Sydmonton, St Martin’s in East Woodhay, Woolton Hill and Burghclere.

You can look up the status of local schools on the West Berkshire Council website

There’s a list of Hampshire school closures on the Hampshire County Council website.
