Popularity of local beauty spot prompts parking measures

West Berkshire Council are reporting a “high number of visitors” to Snelsmore Common as the Coronavirus restrictions are eased.

As a result, there will be a “no parking” restriction on the B4494 around the Common this weekend. This is to stop vehicle drivers from using the main road as overflow parking.

The restriction will be in place from Friday afternoon (12th June) until approx. Monday afternoon (15th June). No waiting cones will indicate the relevant zones to avoid.

The council say they will be keeping an eye on the situation. The same parking measures could be repeated – if needed.

Snelsmore Common is just three miles outside of Newbury on the Wantage Road (B4494).
