Newbury’s Victoria Park Bandstand gets a facelift

Refurbishment works on the historic Bandstand in Victoria Park are now well under way.  The much-loved Bandstand has needed a bit of TLC in recent years and now with a new roof coating, decorative and brickwork repairs and new flooring, the Bandstand can be used for years to come – with no leaks!

Councillor Gary Norman, Leader of the Council said, “We would especially like to acknowledge the wonderful support received from Greenham Trust, The Good Exchange, West Berkshire Council and the Syder Foundation towards this project.”

He continued, “The Bandstand has hosted a number of musical events throughout the summer, and we are looking forward to next year’s performances which take place most afternoons at weekends from May through to September”.

Watership Brass, the Newbury Town Band have welcomed the refurbishment works saying, “We are really looking forward to performing on our refurbished Home Town Bandstand!”. Basingstoke Silver Band have commented saying, “We were so grateful for all the Newbury community who came to support us in the rain this summer. Can’t wait to perform here again!

Residents of all ages come along and enjoy the Park and its great facilities throughout the year.

One resident was so pleased and contacted the council  to say, “Just wanted to say a big thank you for all the band concerts in Victoria Park. They’ve been great & enjoyed by a wide range of people. It’s been especially great to see how young children react to the live music!”
