M4 and A339 closures: Allow extra time for journeys this weekend

Drivers are being reminded to allow extra time for their journeys this weekend due to the closure of a local section of the M4.

Highways England say that the M4 between junctions 13 (Chieveley) and 14 (Hungerford) will be closed in both directions from 9pm on Friday 8 October until 6am on Monday 11 October 2021 for resurfacing and work to replace the waterproofing material on the bridge.

A signed diversion will be in place via the A338, A4 and A34 with additional signage on the approaches to the closure on local routes.

Also, the A339 will be closed between the Tesco roundabout and the Swan roundabout on Friday and Saturday between 7am and 7pm due to roadworks.

There are also ongoing speed limits and speed restrictions on the A34 due to resurfacing and lay-by improvements.

We’ve seen these sort of weekends closure a couple of times this year, and it always means severe congestion, so please plan your journeys accordingly this weekend.
