Local sporting action – results

It was indeed slim pickings this week as yet another storm played havoc with the local sporting fixtures, of the games that were scheduled only 2 survived.

FOOTBALL

Thatcham 8 – 0 Basingstoke Town

With a dedicated crowd of 285 watching, Thatcham put on an amazing performance, beating Basingstoke Town with a plethora of goals. John Mills put Thatcham ahead after just 23 secs with his first touch of the game, the second goal came from Felipe Barcelos after 21 mins, 3 mins later Zak Westlake headed one in from a Willmoth free kick, with James Ollis scoring on 45 mins. The second half started off with a second goal from Zak Westlake after 5 mins, the visitors managed an own goal on 65 mins. 5 mins toward the end James Ollis claimed his second goal of the afternoon after coming back on after hobbling off 5 mins earlier. The game finished with a second Basingstoke own goal on 88 mins. This was Thatchams first win since 11th Jan.

Thatcham have now closed the gap on league leaders Frome Town to two points, ahead of next weekend’s clash with Mangotsfield United.

Tadley Reserves 5 – 0 South Wonston Swifts

It was a 2.30 kick off for Tadley who played host to South Wonston Swifts this afternoon. Goals scored by: Luke Maclean, Cian Condon and a hat trick from Adam Lee Bartlett
