Lee Dillon MP at work in the constituency

Very much part of his ongoing commitment to being our local Newbury and surrounding West Berkshire MP, Lee Dillon MP joined the @thamesvalleychamber, local employers and young people for an important conversation about the future of Newbury and West Berkshire at the Political Working Lunch.

From tackling skills shortages and improving transport links to addressing housing challenges and embracing new technology, it was clear that businesses and communities are facing significant pressures.

And, as Lee Dillon noted, that’s why the work of organisations like @berkshireyouth, hosts of the lunch, is so important.  By supporting young people to develop skills, confidence and real-world experience, they help to build the workforce and community leaders of tomorrow.

In our MP’s view, if we want local businesses to thrive and our economy to grow, we need to ensure young people are part of the conversation and helping shape the decisions that affect their future.

And achieving that economic drive is very much the remit of Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce, who organised the event.  They are likely the largest and most influential business membership organisation in the Thames Valley.  Aiming to be the voice of business in the Thames Valley, for micro to multinational organisations, they too seek to drive better economic conditions and new opportunities for members and the wider community.

Lee Dillon expressed his thanks to the TVCC for organising this event and to the young people and local leaders who attended.
