Greenham Multi Use Games Area Gets a Facelift
The Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) at The Willows School in Greenham has had a £25,818 makeover.
A great community facility, the MUGA is already open for business and is being enjoyed by many community groups including the Willows Wanderers Run Together Group (pictured).
The MUGA used to be maintained by a local community group, but when the group disbanded, it fell into disrepair.
Following the revamp, Governors at the Willows School have stepped up to takeover maintenance and management of the MUGA.
£20,858 of the makeover cash came from developers contributions from the nearby development at Newbury Racecourse. The remaining £5k was provided from a successful Members Bid by Cllr Billy Drummond, the Greenham Ward Member.
The Members Bid also covered repairs to fencing to stop balls from being kicked onto the nearby road or school grounds.
Dominic Boeck, West Berkshire’s Executive Member for Leisure said:
“The MUGA is a fantastic resource for Greenham residents and I’m delighted that they are already making the most of it. Having such a great, free facility on the community’s door step is a brilliant way to maintain health and wellbeing.”
Billy Drummond, Ward Member for Greenham said:
“I’m very pleased that my bid was successful and to see so many people enjoying the MUGA. Facilities such as this are integral to building and maintaining strong and healthy community relations.”
