Exciting new leisure venue opens in Newbury Town Centre

As soon as you enter through the double doors into what was once Prohibition Bar, you are transported immediately to your youth, regardless of your age.

High Score has just opened in Newbury town centre and looks as if it will rapidly establish itself as a firm favourite with both young & old.

Aaron Gilbey recently invited Steve Prout from our Back to the 80’s show to see what all the fuss is about.

He started by saying:

We are predominantly a corporate experiences company, but obviously this year has not been great for corporate events. We decided to look into creating something to keep us & our staff busy, which is a free-play arcade. You pay one fee for an hour of free play, no extra cash required.

Aaron went on to say:

We have some UK firsts here, including a 3mtr video wall Street Fighter, we have one of only 3 BB Airsoft games in Europe. We have a great mix of the latest games as well as some of your more nostalgic ones.

The venue is fully COVID 19 compliant, with temperature checks as you enter, hand sanitiser stations as well as mandatory wearing of face coverings. The venue is also fogged once a day for extra protection.

Opening from 10am, for one hour free-play sessions, with half hour clean downs in between. The last session is 20.30, with doors closing at 21.30.

Aaron was keen to tell us about keeping the venue current and fresh:

We own in total, about 400 machines, so we would be looking at swapping some out every month to keep it fresh and exciting for the customers.

There certainly is something for everyone here, Aaron is keen to point out that this is somewhere that the entire family can enjoy. You can find High Score on Cheap Street opposite the old Post Office, book online for £9.95 per person for a one hour free-play session, with a 25% discount for a family of four
