Corn Exchange Newbury, Summer Activities

With the summer holidays only around the corner, the Corn Exchange Newbury is full to the brim with a wide selection of activities over the six week break that will entertain young people across all ages.

On Tuesdays, 4 to 8 year olds are invited to come along to the popular Make and Do Holiday Club (7 – 28 Aug), where the young participants will get the chance to take part in a mixture of creative activities – from arts and crafts to drama, dance and movement as well as the chance to relax and watch a film. The themes this summer are: The Wonderful World of Roald Dahl, Space, Down in the Jungle and Bear Hunt.

For slightly older children, aged 7 to 11, there is the brand-new Cinema Club (9 – 30 Aug) on Thursdays, which combines the excitement of watching a film in the Corn Exchange’s cinema and the fun of taking part in some creative activities in the Learning Centre. This summer you can expect some absolute favourites to watch and explore including: Toy Story, Paddington, Zootopiaand The Lego Movie.

Wednesdays are ideal for 9 to 12 year olds who want to make a Play in a Day (8 & 22 Aug). A jam-packed exploration of characters, settings and plots, participants will get the chance to create a brand new performance, rehearsed and ready to perform to family and friends at the end of the day.

8 to 18 year olds can enjoy the return of the long-running Junior and Senior Dance Week (30 Jul – 3 Aug), which is back and better than ever. Working with expert dance practitioner Debbie Camp and her team, groups will get to experience what it is like to be a professional dancer for a week.  There will be classes in the day, building up to a performance at the Corn Exchange at the end of the week.

Finally, suitable for the whole family on Fridays, there are Creation Station Family Fun (27 July, 10 & 24 Aug) sessions. These arts and crafts classes are a great opportunity for your family to get creative both individually and as part of a team.
