Calling all budding photographers
The popular ‘My Wild Life’ photography competition has returned to The Base, Greenham, inspired by the return of the Natural History Museum’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year 61 exhibition to their Gallery this February. Each year, thousands of visitors enjoy viewing the finalists’ images in our Runway Gallery – you don’t want to miss out on this exciting opportunity!
Budding photographers of all ages and expertise can enter the ‘My Wild Life’ competition, and it is completely free. Whether they capture images of insects in their back gardens, wildlife discovered on a family walk, or snaps of their beloved pets… we are looking for creative thinking when it comes to capturing the wonders of wildlife that surround us in town and country.
Finalists from two age categories (Under-18s and Over-18s) will be chosen by a panel of expert judges. The winning entries from each category will be selected by the general public in an online vote!
The two winning photographers will win a Family ticket (2 adults, 3 children) to visit Marwell Zoo and explore its wonderful grounds, as well as getting the chance to enjoy an Kingfisher Hide Experience for two at Berkshire Wildlife Hides! The Over-18s winner will also be given an ‘Animal Experience’ at Marwell to get up close to nature!
Both winners will also get a Base Pass/Family Base Pass cards, with unlimited entry to The Base Gallery for a whole year along with seeing their photographs displayed in our Runway Gallery, printed in the Newbury Weekly News and published on The Base and Corn Exchange’s websites and shared on respective social media platforms.
The Base Greenham want to showcase the best local talent that celebrates our wildlife and the natural world. The winning entries, along with 2nd place, finalists and highly commended entries, will be displayed for all to see and admire in Honesty Café in Parkway, Newbury from Monday 23 February to Sunday 26 April whilst also being on display at The Base’s Runway Gallery for the duration of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 61 exhibition.
