Bill Graham Community Champion Award 2026

At Shaw-cum-Donnington’ Annual Parish Meeting on 6 May Chairperson Margo Payne and the Revd Raymond Orbin presented Libby Goldsack (centre) with the Bill Graham Community Champion Award for 2026. Libby has been volunteering at St Mary’s Church for over 30 years, running the parent and toddler group, the Reminiscence group for the elderly, and the volunteers that look after the churchyard, amongst other things.

Highly commended were Robin Hill (second left) for clearing litter regularly from the ‘trash screen’ on the River Lambourn to stop it flooding, and Sue Groves (far right) who is the Village Hall and WI treasurer, the administrator for the church allotments and the organiser of the Donnington fete plant stall.

Also not pictured, Jim and Sue Snelling were highly commended for keeping an eye on the Donnington Recreation Ground – reporting vandalism and other issues to the Clerk.

It was lovely to be able to celebrate the voluntary work of these people – who all help to make the parish such a welcoming and attractive place to live.
