Amazing result for Greenham Trust’s ‘Double Matched Day’

Greenham Trust’s first 48-hour Double Matched Day was a resounding success with all five of the charities selected meeting the target of raising £5,000 over the 2 days and receiving the full £10,000 of match funding from Greenham Trust.

Held on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th June, Greenham Trust’s Double Matched Day, hosted on The Good Exchange platform, saw every £1 donated double match funded by Greenham Trust to become £3 (with a total of £10,000 of match funding available per participant).

With 226 total donations received on the day, all five of the participants met their fundraising targets and the fundraising appeals for West Berkshire Therapy CentreWest Berkshire Mencap and Parenting Special Children are now fully funded. Hungerford Town Football Club and The Trust for Sustainable Living (Living Rain Forest) reached their Double matched Days targets but are still fundraising to complete their appeals.

The donations reached an incredible £81,997.77, broken down as follows:

  • Total amount donated: £29,523.77
  • Double Match funding from Greenham Trust: £50,010
  • Gift Aid on donations: £2,464
  • Total awarded £81,997.77

Patrick Chambers, Chairman of Hungerford Town FC, said: “I was overwhelmed with the numerous donations made over the 48-hour double matched funding event with the generous support of Greenham Trust. There is no doubt that many more people donated due to the fact that every £1 raised delivered £3 to the club towards our new pavilion that is now approaching fit out stage. The timing was just perfect for us, and the funds will make a massive difference to our small club. I can’t thank Greenham Trust and everyone that donated enough. The generosity has literally blown me away.”

John Holt, Trustee at West Berkshire Therapy Centre said: “We are ecstatic to have reached our target and we would not be there without Greenham Trust and The Good Exchange platform. Thank you!”

Sara Vaughan, CEO West Berkshire Mencap, said: “Everyone at West Berkshire Mencap is absolutely thrilled by the success of Double Match Day. To have raised so much, so quickly by our friends and supporters and to then have had it double matched by Greenham Trust is wonderful news. The clients at our Garden project are so excited about the new facilities we are building and are really looking forward to their new Woodwork workshop. Thank you so much!”

Tess Eagles, Business Development and Partnerships Manager, Parenting Special Children said “Thank you to all our supporters and local businesses and also thanks to Greenham Trust for the double match funding. Your support is greatly appreciated by us and the families we support.”

Chris Boulton, CEO of Greenham Trust added: “Thanks very much to our 5 finalist charitable organisations, everyone from the local community and local businesses and the teams from Greenham Trust and The Good Exchange who helped to make our Double Matched Days last Friday and Saturday a resounding success. With all participants reaching their double matched targets, Double Matched Days clearly demonstrate the benefits of charitable match funding and the huge added-value it can bring for good causes across a community.”
