£50,000 available for local groups for community crime prevention

A champion of community safety and crime prevention, on 3 November the Public Protection Partnership launched a new and exciting scheme to help local communities in West Berkshire address community safety and to help prevent crime.

Councillor Norman Jorgensen, Chairman of the Joint Public Protection Committee, said:

“The new Public Protection Community Fund is funded from assets seized from criminals as a result of their criminal activity. Grants of up to £7,500 per group are available and we are encouraging community groups, not-for-profit organisations and ward members, who are seeking funding for crime prevention in their local community, to apply to the Fund.

“It is right that money recovered as a result of convictions for serious criminal activity is used in this way and we are looking forward to receiving a good number of applications. Please note the deadline for this, the first round of applications, is Monday 4 December”.
