£50,000 available for local groups for community crime prevention

A champion of community safety and crime prevention, on 3 November the Public Protection Partnership launched a new and exciting scheme to help local communities in West Berkshire address community safety and to help prevent crime.

Councillor Norman Jorgensen, Chairman of the Joint Public Protection Committee, said:

“The new Public Protection Community Fund is funded from assets seized from criminals as a result of their criminal activity. Grants of up to £7,500 per group are available and we are encouraging community groups, not-for-profit organisations and ward members, who are seeking funding for crime prevention in their local community, to apply to the Fund.

“It is right that money recovered as a result of convictions for serious criminal activity is used in this way and we are looking forward to receiving a good number of applications. Please note the deadline for this, the first round of applications, is Monday 4 December”.

To find out more, and to download an application form, go to www.westberks.gov.uk/ppcf. For those who wish to apply and do not have access to the internet, call Claire Lockwood at the Public Protection Partnership on 01635 519507 for further information and an application form.
