18 week Monks Lane closure in New Year
Monks Lane will be closed from January 12th to May 22nd in the New Year.
Thames Water say this is to allow for “essential works will be carried out to provide a new pumping station for waste water and installation of a new foul water main”.
There are full details here, which include these specifics:
“The existing network is unable to cope with current volumes resulting in foul smell and overflows during peak usage. Essential works will be carried out to provide a new pumping station for waste water and installation of a new foul water main. The project will benefit Newbury Rugby club and surrounding businesses.
The works are expected to take around nine months. From approximately May 2026, most activity will be confined to the Newbury Rugby Club grounds and will not affect the public.
The works will be taking place in the car park of Newbury Rugby Club and will join Monks Lane. Once at Monks Lane works will continue up to the roundabouts at the junction of Andover Road where the main will join the existing network….
Monks Lane will be closed from 12th January 2026 till 22nd May 2026 from the roundabout joining Andover Road, to the access road to David Lloyd, Newbury Rugby Club and various other businesses. Access to Sutherlands will remain in place for residents.”
