The English Wine and Food Festival is coming to West Berkshire
West Berkshire is home to award winning English wines, and the English Wine and Food Festival is taking place near Hungerford on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th of June at Cobbs Farm (full details below).
Organised by the Thames and Chilterns Vineyards Association, the event will showcase local wines from across the region and several of the vineyards represented at the event are right here in West Berkshire.
Kennet Radio visited Winding Wood Vineyard, located just outside Newbury and pictured above, to see the grapes being grown ahead of this year’s harvest and to learn more about English Wine and the transformation taking place in the industry. You can hear all about revolution in English Wine from 10am on Friday Morning (17th June) on the Simon Trevers programme where we’re talking with Christopher Cooke from Winding Wood Vineyard.
The English Wine and Food Festival is being held on 25th and 26th June at Cobbs Farm, Bath Road, Hungerford, RG17 0SP from 11am to 5pm each day.
Visitors will be able to taste, compare and buy award-winning local wines all in one location. There will be the chance to meet winemakers and growers, meet a Master of Wine specialising in English wine, and learn more about the grape varieties that do well in our climate.
It’s more than wine too – alongside the participating vineyards, local food producers will be cooking up tasty meals and selling beautifully made culinary delights. Pairing the wide range of still and sparkling wines with the freshly made dishes on offer makes this a rewarding event for wine-lovers and foodies alike.
Tickets are £5 for a one-day ticket, or £15 for a one-day ticket including six tastings. Under 18s are free of charge however they must be accompanied by an adult.
