The Blues are in the Final!

The Blues pipped Teignmouth 39:37 in extra time to go through to the final of the Papa John’s Cup Region 2 Shield.

Travelling to Teignmouth, the Blues enjoyed an early purple patch, getting a lot of points of the board with a fistful of tries.  With some great rugby, the Blues built a good lead, standing 32-10 ahead on 58mins.  All credit to Teignmouth, they chipped away, scoring a try in the last few minutes of normal time.  They must have kicked themselves for missing the conversion in front of the posts that would have won them the game.

In extra time, more ebb and flow…  Teignmouth scored, the Blues scored.  The Blues’ conversion made the difference.

Ollie Rhoades scored a hat trick of tries.  There were tries, too, for Tom Cole, Harry Waye-Branch and Jonny Lees.  Captain Dan Thorne scored the rest of the points.  Will Osborne celebrated his 50th Blues cap and Louis Carnell made his Blues debut.

A great semi-final and a roller-coaster that went our way.  The final against Gravesend is next Sunday, 12th May – kick-off at 5pm – at Dings Crusaders RFC Ground, Frenchay near Bristol.  Come on you Blues!
