Reading Buses drive off with honours
Reading Buses and one of their subsidiaries have driven away with honours in the UK Bus Awards, affectionately known in the industry as the ‘Bus Oscars’.
The judges gave Reading buses silver in the Top National Bus Depot award making them second in the UK.
Courtney Buses, which was acquired by Reading Buses just under a year ago, came away with bronze in the Top Independent Operator category.
Reading Buses were finalist in three categories at the UK Bus Awards. In addition to Top National Depot, they were finalists for Bus in the Community and Making Buses a Better Choice.
The Bus in the Community shortlisting was for Reading Buses’ work with Autism Berkshire and accessibility and the Making Buses a Better Choice shortlisting was for the constant refreshing of their popular purple 17 route.
Said Robert Williams, Reading Buses Chief Executive Officer: ”I am extremely proud of the whole team at Reading Buses for their excellent work.
“In spite of horrendous congestion and what seems like endless roadworks, the team have pulled together to continue to deliver outstanding service to the people of Reading and beyond.
“It is an honour to be finalists in three categories in these prestigious bus awards, and especially to be recognised as the silver winner for best national depot. It reflects the huge effort made by all parts of the team every day.”
He added: “A massive well-done as well to our team at Courtney Buses who have had a fantastic year capped with a bronze win in the Top Independent Bus Company category.”
