Race To The Stones in memory of Alice
Newbury resident Edwina Gudgeon is running 100km for two local charities, in memory of her sister Alice, whose life was tragically cut short 10 years ago. Alice lost her battle with cancer in 2010, aged just 35.
Edwina has set up a funding page, and all proceeds will go to Newbury Cancer Care Trust, and Daisy’s Dream, and is very close to reaching her target. Support for these crucial charities is especially important right now, with funding severely affected by the pandemic.
Alice spent a few nights at the Rainbow Rooms at Newbury hospital, where I could stay with her overnight. These rooms are funded by Newbury Cancer Care Trust. What Alice really wanted to do was go home to my parents house – with equipment supplied by NCCT and nurses from Marie Curie this was made possible and Alice spent her last few days surrounded by her family.
Edwina completes her Race To The Stones on Saturday, 12pm at Greenham Control Tower. To read more about this story, and to donate, go to the Virgin Money Giving Page
