International Air Tattoo 50th anniversary exhibition at Greenham Control Tower
In this 50th year of operation of the International Air Tattoo, Greenham Control Tower has assembled an exhibition celebrating the years (1973 to 1983) when the world-famous Air Tattoo displays were held at Greenham Common.
Many local people will remember the fantastic displays of aircraft, from all over the world, which could be seen on their doorsteps.
This exhibition describes the story of how the Tattoo came to Greenham and developed into a major event. It includes exhibits contemporary photographs and original publicity posters and pamphlets. There is an interactive kiosk and screens showing aviation videos.
Greenham Common Control Tower is at Burys Bank Road, Newbury, Berkshire, RG19 8BZ.
The tower and cafe opening hours are:
WEDNESDAY – 10:30-15:00
THURSDAY – 10:30-15:00
FRIDAY – 10:30-15:00 (see note below)
SATURDAY – 10:00-16:00
SUNDAY –10:00-16:00
Please note that the Tower is closed on Friday 27th January 2022 for essential maintenance.
