Children invited to join Space Chase at West Berkshire Libraries

West Berkshire Libraries are getting ready for lift off with this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, Space Chase; an out-of-this-world adventure inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing.

Children aged 4-11 are invited to sign up to the annual Challenge to borrow and read any six library books between 1 July and the end of September.

This summer children are asked to help super space family the Rockets track down books nabbed by mischievous aliens! As they read library books, they will solve clues and collect special stickers to complete their mission folder. Can they find the aliens in time to save the day?

It’s free to take part and there are incentives along the way, plus certificates and golden medals for all who complete the Challenge. West Berkshire Libraries also run a summer Mini Challenge for younger members and one for adults too. For more details, please ask in your local library. www.westberks.gov.uk/libraries

Children at Newbury Library have already been busy making a giant rocket which is on display in the library in the run up to the big launch on 1 July 2019.

There are also plenty of opportunities to get involved by volunteering to help run the Summer Reading Challenge at your local library over the coming months. To find out more visit www.westberks.gov.uk/volunteer
