Can you help make a local child’s Christmas happier?

The Louise Purton Toy Appeal 2021is “a chance for our community to support children, young people and families at what would otherwise be an unhappy time of year.”

You can donate a toy which will be given to a deserving child for Christmas.

The appeal is spear-headed, once again, by Swift Logistics backed by several local companies and the Newbury Community Resource Centre.

There is a website which gives all the details of how to donate toys. It says:

1 in 10 West Berkshire children live below the breadline? During the festive period, thousands of families struggle as they are forced to choose between buying presents or paying bills. As a result, many children in our area receive no gifts.

The website address is toyappeal.co.uk

You can donate new, unwrapped toys at the local places listed here.

The website also has details of how toys can be collected for those claiming toys, stating:

“If you’re worried about Christmas and how you’re going to get by, please don’t make a choice between paying bills and getting gifts: let us help. If you think you might be eligible, speak to the professional who supports your family. You can claim vouchers from West Berkshire Council, The Community Furniture Project or support workers”.
