Reports of two loud bangs in northern Newbury

Police were investigating several reports of two loud bangs in quick succession, heard at approximately 7.50pm in the Shaw-cum-Donnington area of North Newbury.

Update:

Thames Valley Police confirm that uniformed officers attended the area, including Cherry Close, Old College Road and Ormond Gardens, and found no evidence of shots being fired.

No members of the public approached police or reported and shots being fired and there have been no reports of a firearm being seen or reports of disorder.

It was, however, confirmed that fireworks had been set off locally.
