Bargain Hunt comes to West Berkshire

Popular BBC TV show Bargain Hunt has been filming in West Berkshire. The Kennet & Avon Canal Trust’s Newbury trip boat ‘Jubilee’ was the setting for a segment for a future episode, while the auction segment of the show was filmed at Special Auction Services in Hambridge Road.

On a boat trip through Newbury Lock, TV personality Eric Knowles (pictured left) met the crew of the boat, Kennet and Avon Canal Trust volunteers, and interviewed David Peacock of the Newbury Society about the history of the canal and Newbury Lock. 

At Special Auction Services, the programme filmed an exciting contest between the Blue and the Red teams, with varied items up for auction in the competition, such as a canary yellow clock and a Far Eastern betel nut holder.  The episode will be shown later this year.
