Award Winners Announced at the Newbury Ladies Presentation Evening

Newbury Ladies Football Club held their end of season awards ceremony last Saturday at the Donnington Valley Hotel & Golf Club.

It was attended by Steve Masters, who was representing Eight Bells for Mental Health Newbury and he collected a cheque on the evening on the charity’s behalf for £300.  This amount was donated by Newbury Ladies Football Club from funds raised at their annual charity Race Night, which was held earlier in the season and organised by Club Vice Chairman, Steve Hanstock (both he and Steve Masters are pictured in the attached photo).

It was also announced on the night that Newbury Ladies FC had been able to send a £200 cheque donation to West Berkshire Mencap, with Berkshire Women’s aid benefitting from a £150 donation and a further £50 being donated to the Thames Valley Air Ambulance.

Special presentations were then made in recognition of player loyalty for 5 year’s service to Newbury Ladies FC by Hazel Beesley and Carly Passfield, as well as a 10 year long service award presented to Bec Walker.  And remarkably 15 year long service awards were collected by Kendall Gilmour, Chloe Hunt, Lorna Kinder-Parr and Ruby Oliver.

The Club Persons of the Year were announced as Marie Prout, Hazel Beesley and Issy Cording; with the award for Most Improved Player going to Imogen Gibbons.

Also amongst the prizes for number of goal assists and goals scored were Ayala Truelove, Nicole Beesley, Gemma Burnett and the impressive Alice Hill, who racked up a total of 28 goals scored in all competitions during the season 2017/18.

The Newbury Ladies FC Players’ Player of the Season for the Development Team was Maria Rodrigues and the same award for the First Team was collected by Leanne Saunders.

There were two awards for the Managers’ Player of the Season, with Sam Atkins picking up the First Team prize and Kendall Gilmour given the honour for her superb captaining of the Newbury Ladies FC Development Team.
