Thatcham Festival offers a wide range of events

The 20th annual Thatcham Festival will take place from Saturday 10th until Sunday 20th October.

With adjustments for COVID-compliance, there will be a full range of events from walks to leisure and craft fairs, photography and art exhibitions and online workshops in dance, singing and talks.

There will be live events on offer, all following the latest Government Guidelines, with the always popular Leisure and Craft Fair kicking off the Festival at 10.00am on Saturday 10th October with inspirational gifts and displays from local independent traders and community organisations.

There will be a restricted and bookable preschool Mini Fest on Tuesday 13th from 9.00am- 2pm with a number of fun providers.

On 17th October ‘Fun on the Field’ will appeal to families of all ages as The Memorial Playing Field hosts Classic Cars, a fun Dog Show, Fun Fair and other attractions from 10.00am onwards.

There will be a number of local walks on offer, limited in group size, appealing to those interested in nature as well as history with walks taking place at The Nature Discovery Centre, St Marys Church as well as Greenham Common.

The key to much of the festival’s content is online with the always popular Thatcham Photographic Club Exhibition as well as Tanya’s Art Exhibition now both taking place on the worldwide web.

All of the talks will also be taking place online with content ranging from a session on Thatcham History by Dr Nick Young to three talks on the subject of Climate Change from Miriam Lee, Bristol based writer Deborah Tomkins and a talk in association with GreenFest by popular TV and Radio presenter Matthew Shribman on what a green recovery might look like.

Interested in dance? You may find inspiration at 10.00am on 11th October when there will be a premiere of nine different dance films, created by dance organisations, appealing to people in Thatcham. The featured dance styles will appeal to all ages and all styles from street dance to ballet to tap to dance as fitness.
