Thames Valley Kings Superheroes answer Wonderwheels Challenge

A crack team of 7 Thames Valleys Kings members including Club mascot Uncle Bob pushed 5km around Dorney Lake on Sunday as we take part in the UK’s FIRST festive disability sports event – NPower Winter Wonderwheels. The members all dress as Superheroes including Batman, Spiderman, and Super Girl to mark the occasion. The members were all raising money the Thatcham based Wheelchair Basketball Club, which 100% volunteer run and dependent on fundraising and donations.

The Kings team were also selected as a finalist of the Best Costume that was judged by two-time Paralympics gold medallist and recent Strictly Come Dancing entrant, Jonnie Peacock.

Club Captain Wayne Burton (Spiderman) stated –

“What a great day all around, it was such good fun today completing 5k and I even got to dress up as a superhero I’ve been a massive fan of since a young age!”

Kings member (who dressed Super Girl) Vickie Simmonds stated –

“I absolutely loved being amongst my teammates and taking part in such a big event with so many other everyday superheroes. The 5k challenge with dribbling a basketball around in the freezing cold (the day after a big game!) was tough but we did it together. I can’t wait to bring on the next challenge. “

Sponsorship is still opened and can be done via the clubs fundraising page:
