Thames Valley Kings Reign Supreme

Coming along closely behind Jacqueline Scoins Cass MBE’s invite to the royal wedding, the Kings took part in a battle royale themselves today (6th May) at Kennet Leisure centre where they faced the might of The Plymouth Raiders.

The Kings looked to be down during the first half with the scoreline 2 – 8 after the first period, they were getting shots on target but were just falling short of the hoop. They were then 4 – 14 down after the second period with the Raiders seeming to find the net at every occasion where the Kings could not, After a couple of substitutions , Kings seemed to finally find their pace, ending the first half of the game 21 – 22.

With some inspired play from Reece & Liam Barker the shots finally found their targets, assisted by Nash & Ball, also with some great defending from Wayne Burton,

The second half seemed to go more in favour of the Kings, with more shots on target than in the first half. There was only ever 3 points in the game towards the end, both teams struggling in the heat. The score line went backwards & forwards, until there was only one point in it, the spectators were on the edges of their seats as the minutes ticked down, it would only take a last minute point to have totally changed the game. Finally the end came to rapturous applause & cheering from the Kings Army. Final score 32 – 31 to the Kings.

They play their next game at home against Wolves next Saturday (12th May) tip off 12.30. The winners of this game will surely gain promotion to South West Division 2.
