Newbury’s Northbrook Street to be closed next week due to sewer collapse

Northbrook Street, Newbury, is to be closed from the junction of Mansion House Street, to the junction of West Street. The closure is expected to be in place from Monday 31st January 2022 until Monday 7th  February 2022.

Though the works are expected to take place along Northbrook Street only, in order to maintain reasonable access for deliveries etc, barriers will be erected where the rising bollards are located in Bartholomew St, (close to Kennet Car park entrance). Gatekeepers will be present to facilitate delivery and emergency access along this route.

Delivery access required for businesses located north of West Street, will be maintained via Oxford St/London Rd end of Northbrook Street.

Access to the Kennet car park and pedestrian access will not be affected.

This is an emergency closure so that repairs can be made to a collapsed sewer in the carriageway, which is in danger of flooding businesses located along its path.

Residential access will be maintained throughout and the diversion will be signed on site.

Emergency vehicle access throughout these works will not be possible
